Claudio Branch
Here are a few screenshots from a modeling project I am currently working on. The structure is a 650' wide x 33' high spillway holding back a whole lot of lakewater. The model is going to be used for a CFD study (computational fluid dynamics). The terrain was created by triangulating the local survey data (1' contours) and the structure was modeled from existing construction documents. All of the modeling was done with AutoCAD with EasySite and the screenshots are out of Max. The accurate integration of a structure with it's surrounding terrain has been a frustrating challenge to many individuals. With the right techniques and tools, the process can actually be enjoyable. Any and all questions, comments, complaints welcome...
Elmarq
interesting project. i'm curious about the inclusion of max into your workflow, will you be doing any animation (stress failures, etc..) or texturing? Cheers!
Claudio Branch
My client only asked for terrain and structure modeling on this job. The model will be used by a group of university professors for scientific visualization. They are studying the hydraulic performance of this spillway at peak capacity.
