chadw
These are two unrelated images I am currently working on. Both will have about 3 more images of the same style from other vantage points. For efficiency I posted both together, hope it's not too confusing.
Michael Ballard
Very nice! What apps did you use for modeling and rendering?
chadw
The restaurant is modeled in Revit and the residence was with MAX. Rendered with Vray and all post done in PS.
Dave Buchhofer
Looks good, I'd rather see them with the blur toned down a LOT on the restaurant shot, it comes across as heavy DOF which makes it feel like a model shot, and the residence is just a bit overboard on the glow for such an evenly lit scene for my tastes, approaching the smokey house stage composition on the right feels off, you have an opening framed well, but your eye path is blocked almost immediately by the couch, feels like you want to get to the fireplace when first looking at the image. BillyElNino
I agree with the previous comments, you may want to look at the glass material too, they look like they need a real good wipe with a cloth. It seems to be only affecting the wine glasses rather than the water glasses too. As I have mentioned before the soft focus look is not my cup of tea but even so I think it may be a little heavy in the living room image. Although this is a design issue rather than render its rare for a sofa to look so heavy and welded to the floor, maybe put some stumpy legs on it and raise it up? tayrona
I really like the restaurant shot, the effect, although is dramatic, is giving a very nice mood. In first image, there is something with glasses that I dont like, they look too white and flat... just like an standard material.... Just a question: did you use a camera with dOP or is a post effect???
chadw
Yeah the wine glasses are totally wrong.... I will make that change. The effects are all done post, so changing their effects is not so hard. Normally I am also not one for the "soft" look, but thought I would try it out since the image seemed to warrent it. I agree with the couch blocking the view comment, and am doing another shot from the side to give a better understanding of the space once you enter it. Thanks a lot for all of your comments. odouble
I feel like both shots are in motion... It almost looks like they are frames cut out of an animated scene with all the blur from the dof. I'm loving the restaurant scene and i think you should enhance the glow on the light coming in from the windows and definitely reduce the dof. The drama from the dof will probably be more appreciated if there were people in the foreground. Overall good feel so far.
