Developing world buoys up software pirates

Recommended Posts

Well.... I think software that costs $4000+ doesn't help drive Piracy down.

As a former programmer and systems analyst, I am against piracy.

But I'm also of the opinion that 90% of software should cost more than $100.

Whatever software is the 10% (I won't debate or go into that here), then it should not cost more than $500.

I applaud Modo for leading the charge. $800 is a great price. And hopefully as it gets more and more popular, it'll affect 3DS and Lightwave and those prices will drop.

I realise that a lot of man-hours goes into each of these programs - I use to coordinate between teams of programmers in the UK, Florida and California and understand budgeting and hidden expenses - but if they consider their market is THE WORLD... That's a lot of people. That's a lot of potential customers.

Just my 2 cents.
