Mike.
i made a mistake whith the title of the thread sorry. i m new to this forum . here is a pic of a house in africa, raw render. i have to make 10 views of it. this is the first. i'll post updates soon (i hope) for the moment i have a problem whith THE DAMN GRASSSS. you can see i used displacement for the grass.and you can see it doesn't work. i tried to tweak it to the desired results whith no success. I tried vrayfur takes ages to render. I tried built in max fur convert to geometry, not good result. Would you have a tip for the displacement map ? for the moment i'll tweak again and again .... anyway this is it for the moment.comments welcome Thanks Edited May 17, 2008 by Mike. i made a mistake whith the title of the thread sorry. RODRI
nice render. may be the glass at right needs + transparent. i like the wood.
WAcky
I reckon it looks pretty good actually. Maybe try mixing your disp map with a large noise map to make some variation in length over a larger scale...
chadw
I didn't even notice the grass.... so I would so say it's pretty good. However the crushed stone does not seem to have enough resolution next to the wood. The wood has lots of detail and the stone is blurring out. That is what caught my eye. Nice image all in all. selos69
Hmm, not sure what you mean by 'not working' because it clearly is and i think it looks quite nice actually. As the others have said, try adding a noise modifier to the grass plane and smooth it out. I also think maybe you should crank up the contrast of the decking a tad (look for 'colorcorrect' plugin for the easy way). If your working in LWF make sure the Bitmap was imported at 2.2 gamma The glass would look better if it were a bit more transparent also. Im not sure what the white material is on the right? You might want to work on that a little more. - if it was a painted concrete, you might want to add a slight bump and perhaps a mapped reflection? Check the mapping of the stone. I think it's very much on the way of being a really good render. Fantastic design, excellent camera position, excellent lighting.
Mike.
Thanks all for your attention. I'm actually fighting whith gamma. SandmanNinja
There's a very good thread on Gamma on this site. From what I can gather: F10 -> Renderer tab -> Preferences -> Gamma and LUT If you save to a JPG, TIF, BMP, any-8-bit-format, set OUTPUT GAMMA to 1.8 If you save to a HDR, EXR, or any 32-bit format, set OUTPUT GAMMA to 1.0 I think your render is wonderful - just the comment about the white concrete area on the right. Horhe
Looking good. Grass could be a tad brighter and a little less saturated IMO.
Mike.
Thanks for the replys guys. I am a little bit in a hurry, and this gamma thing just tortured me for the last two days. now it is ok, but i think i won't have time to bring all the needed modifications (correct the white thing on the right of the first pic or make a nice grass....). Anyway, here are two more images. Comments welcome and needed especially if you have ideas about the sky , colors and tints in the two new images, which hurt me a little bit but i don't know exactly what to change. Thanks Edited May 18, 2008 by Mike.

SandmanNinja
From here: http://www.cgarchitect.com/vb/29852-help-needed-understanding-gamma-lut-correction-4.html Fantastic render!
Mike.
From here: Fantastic render! thanks ! about gamma, this is what i do. 2.2 everywhere gamma, input and output. convert all your textures to gamma 2.2. keep vray color mapping gamma to 1.0. that's it. lol.... all this brain pain just for that. my max screen is then the same as my photoshop screen, which is the same as my printer output. Under Controllll . (since today only)
Trevor Tizard
These are nice images. They just need a little curves correction in PS as they are a touched washed out (although this is quite normal with LWF).
Mike.
here are some of the 10 view i had to do for the client. 8 days of work. i didn't have time to push things as far as i wanted, but i'm quite ok with the result. thanks for having participated in this thread. ps: lwf rules see you next time
