RMdecor
Hi everyone, Does anyone know how to take a 2d elevation and wrap it around a circle to make a ring? Attached is a sketch my client gave to work with. The bottom part is the elevation and the top is the plan view. Thank you. Claudio Branch
Just crop the view out in Photoshop and save it as a texture. Then you can create a cylinder in Max add a UVW Map (select Cylindrical mapping) and finally assign your texture to the object.

Claudio Branch
Then you can create a cylinder in Max... I thought I was in the Max forum (). Luckily, the advice still applies in AutoCAD 2008. Create a circle, Extrude it and go to Materials (View, Render, Materials) to assign your image to the cylinder. The material mapping controls are built in to the Materials dialog box. You can also explode the extruded object if you want to delete the top and bottom surfaces. The trick here is to use a circle whose perimeter (p=diameter*pi) is equal to your image width and its extrusion height equal to your image height. Proportionally speaking...
