Project #1 - Vaulted Ceilings

This is the first project in the ArchViz class at http://www.cgworkshops.com

C&C encouraged and welcomed.

 

3DS 2008, Mental Ray, MRSun, MRSky, A&D materials where I could, Architectural materials elsewhere, some random JPGs as textures.

The BiPed is 1.82m and is for scale.

 

The textures aren't fixed - we're going to do more next week with this (I assume).

Hi Joel,

 

The composition of the first image is off a bit. Would look better with a less floor and more celing shot.

That bip looks way off in terms of proportions. I see you are inserting it everywhere you can for some time now ;) I think it takes away even from a sketch. Why dont you try using a lowpoly model or even better a transparent silouette from a 2d libary. Good luck with further classes.

Not much to add since its your first class and youll take this higher.

Heheh yeah, me and 'Fred' go back a long way. :)

 

The lens are pretty darn wide angle, so I'm guessing that's why it looks a bit out of proportion. He's pretty close to the 2nd camera.

 

I agree about the first render - that's why I brought the camera target up and dropped the height of the camera for the 2nd render.

 

I think I was trying to show off the reflections in the floor in the first one, and you can definately see the arches better in the 2nd.
