ZFact
Hi I am just wondering is there a simple method to move an object up on the y axis a set distance. I currently have an object at position X = 0, Y= -1003.272, Z = 0.... an want to move the object up 15cm. Can this be done without having to add the 15cm to the -1003.272? I tried holding shift down and moving up manually but it moves up at increpments of 10. Can this be change to increments of 5? And is that the simplest way of doing this? Thanks
Arnold Sher
yeah...there is a easier way... go to bottom of the screen, next to your lock, on the right hand side there is an icon "Absolute mode transform", click on that type in numeric value that you want to move and voila (under Y), oh and make sure you are in the elevation view when you are doing it... That should sort you out...

BillyElNino
rather than working out what -1003.272 + 15 is and then inputting that in the coordinates box you can click the text cursor in the coordinates box that you want to alter after the text and the unit and type in + (or -) 15 (or whatever number) and hit enter. This will add or subtract the typed in number and edit the position of the object. Note: My example is obviously in the x axis but this basic adding and subtracting process works in all Cinema 4D numerical boxes. Edited May 28, 2008 by BillyElNino I forgot! Frosty
Another method is to enable snapping and to quantize the movement - in your case by 5. This will also work for rotates (degrees) and scaling (percentage).
ZFact
Thanks Steve; I read that somwhere else but could not figure out how to change the quantize movement from increments of 10 to 5. Can you let me know please. Paul
Frosty
Paul, 1) Open the Attributes Pallet and Snap Settings tab. 2) Enable the Move Quantize and set the interval as needed.

gdrakakis
Hi Can this be done without having to add the 15cm to the -1003.272? Thanks hi there are 2 ways i can think of 1) just add +x in the Coords Manager. x is the moving distance. c4d will do the math for you. 2) click the move icon, go to Attribute Manager->Snap Settings->quantize->set the desired movement. this will effect every movement from now on. hth, george edit: sorry, i didn't see the posts above. i got a new lazy mouse that doesn't like to scroll Edited June 6, 2008 by gdrakakis
