Aaron2004
Hey guys, Sooo....I need to start learning Sketchup for something, and I'm picking pretty much everything up except for one thing. It seems like whenever I draw, all of my objects that are touching ultimately turn out to be the same, large object. If I pull one away, it stretches the rest of the model...and I don't want to draw pieces away from the main model. The image shows an object comprised of 2 layers...if I wanted to delete one of the brown squares, it screws up the whole model. Is there anyway around this? Thanks! Slinger
Just add another line in there and it will read it as separate planes even on the same one.
raterry
grouping the entities you want to keep separate is the way to go. I'm constantly reminding people here to group and make compnents whenever possible. -=Rob
BillyElNino
Grouping and components, as mentioned above, is the way to solve this. Obviously components if you wish to create multiples of the same object that are editable collectively or groups for unique objects. The only issue with components that have lines that occupy the same space is that when you push/pull these up you're going to create double facing, the modelers arch enemy and the scourge of renderers everywhere. PS: Is that the real Colonel Sanders? I don't think I have ever seen him in real life? Apologies if its just that you bear an uncanny resemblance to the Kentucky legend... Aaron2004
Thanks for the help. I need to know those things. I can make a model really quickly in sketchup...but I can't change or edit it due to the fact that I wasn't using groups or components. And that IS the real Colonel Sanders. I could only hope to look like him one day.
BillyElNino
I wouldn't want his heart valves though...Just the contents of his bank account!
