Pro VS Sketchup and Exporting problems

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

Sorry about all the sketchup questions, but the help file is of little help on these.

Ok...so as far as I can tell there are only a few main differences between pro and free. More Export options, Layout and style builder. Is this correct?

Also...I see a lot of questions reguarding this but no replys on other forums. Has anybody gotten the model with sketchy styles turned on to export to a PDF or EPS correctly? The line weights are all jacked up. I can export to a JPG ok...but the line weight is too light...is there a way to change line weights in the model?

Thanks!

Hi Aaron2004

You can change the line weight for the profile - if you go to Styles, click edit and change the profile thickness. Then you get a thicker line which also exports as a thicker line. The actual thicness you see in the exported image depends on the resolution you set for the image. The bigger it is the thicker the profile has to be set before export.

Hope this helps

With best regards

PRSS

regarding line weight with the sketchy styles , the best results are obtained by doing a simple screen capture and pasting it in your image editor ....as weird as it seems it's the best WYSIWYG method I know...

(learned this trick on the sketchucation forum a few months ago...)

hope this helps...

(and about the pro vs free you're right, the difference is mainly in the import/export functions)

Thank you, Nrvek...

I never heard of that forum before and I believe I found the same article/discussion that you got that from. I guess it makes sense that the skechy lines are raster and therefore can't be enlarged. That really sucks.

Oh well....
