How to improve on CG skills with limited time given?

I am a recent graduate from college and now working full time in and A&E firm. I love what I do. I am working my way towards being an architect, and I am doing a lot of CG work with VIZ. I have a huge interest in CG work. Especially in the field of architecture. I am self taught with VIZ, plus a semesters class that covered some basic stuff. So I know what it can do, but not to it's full potential. But to really be able to work on those skills is very difficult. Because as you and I know. If you want something to look good, it takes time. Well time and money is not in the budget. So basically the renderings and better than a lot that you see from some of the in house people. But nothing compared to what I have seen and want to be able to do with the program. I would love to knock the socks off the principle of the firm. But I do not have the time. How would anyone suggest that I can improve on these skills with the time allowed for me to work on each individual project.

The simplest way to improve your skills is to work on things on your own time. Take your project home with you or stay late at your firm and don't log the hours to your client. You won't get paid for your work, but your image will speak for itself and perhaps lead to a promotion or increase in pay. $ $

hi, i know how u feel...im also in a similar situation..deadline is always yesterday. wat i do is even with the limited time i try to do something different for every rendering project..maybe on one you could give extra time on making the grass look great and the other making a great sky.. wat is important is you learn with every project.
