Vray 1.5 / Max 9 Distributed Rendering set up

Hi guys n gals

I am trying to set up VRay 1.5 Distributed Render for use with Max 9. I have installed Max on the server pc's I want to use and also VRayspawner and I have had some success in chundering off a single frame render with all four of the servers kicking in to join the render party.

My problem is I think I need not have installed Max as a complete program. As I only have one license, all the server pc's are showing a 30 days trial countdown which of course means the program will cease to function at the end of that period. should I have just installed Backburner? I have never used Backburner and would be a little uncertain as to what to do to set up the same arrangement I have now.

Any help anyone can give me would be great.

cheers

Yeah, thats right, after thirty days you won't be able to open them locally on the render nodes, but backburner still will be able to. You need to install the full program of max because backburner is just job distribution software. It will look for the software on the nodes, and in this case, open max as a plugin.

thanks for the advice. I currently use vray spawner on the server pc's that I have installed Max on utilizing the IP search facility in my machines install of Max as the host to connect. What happens after the 30 days trial has expired? Do I just connect as I did before? and how does Backburner work with VRay's DR?

Sorry to be a bit dense but not completely sure here.

Thanks again
