Ky Lane
SoftQuadro... Anyone done it before? Worth it on a 8800GT? Would like any suggestions.
AJLynn
You might as well try but from Joel's experience here it might not be possible to mod the 8800GT with the current tools. I did the 8800GTS to FX4600 mod and the 8600GT to FX1700 and got some good results.

Macer
Its a bit more difficult with vista 64 too. Since the last service pack, disabling verified drivers is more difficult? Still looking for an easy solution.
AJLynn
This is in Vista64? I've only tried it in XP32. But, why talk about it when you can try and see if it works?

Ky Lane
After ALOT of research, i found out the 8800 series cards are hardware locked, and cant be softquadro'd... how disappointing!
AJLynn
Not entirely true - I already did an 8800GTS and it worked. It's also supposed to work on the GTX. GT is a different, newer core, so maybe it doesn't work. My 8800GTS (AKA FX4600) and my coworker's 8600GT (FX1700) are performing a fair bit better in OpenGL than before. Since we all thought it didn't work on the 8800GTS (NV84 core), then they came up with a workaround, I'm assuming the GT (NV92) will get one eventually. That NV92 is similar to what's in an FX3700. Thats correct - its using the G92 core, which is apparently blocked.. hopefully someone comes up with someothing to get around it.
