VIZ 5 When will it be released?

That is very curious.

The latest that I heard/read was from the newsletter by Cadalyst (17-Mar-03)which describes that Autodesk will be maintaining their current lineup of visualization products.

They will offer a Viz render, which is intended for designers (Basic).

Then there is Viz 4, the next step up. Which intergrates with AutoCAD & ADT.

And then there is 3DS Max at the top of the line.

Thanks Craig and Marc for your info.

If anyone has heard of any rumours, let us know.

I am thinking of upgrading to Viz 4, but put it off until I heard more about the next release date.

Maybe there won't be a 5?

Maybe they will dumb it down to a basic version with presets (per the news from Cadalyst). If you want to do more then you'll have to get into Max or some other programs?

It's an endless upgrade.

Thanks again guys for your input.

I am sure that most of you guys have seen the new adt 2004. Has something called Viz renderer with very limited features. Maybe that is what was supposed to be for deisgners.

Totally off topic here but while I was at the cad 2004 sales pitch the "pitcher" said that she thought that Autodesk was going to keep both ADT and revit indefinalty. She said "Well if there are still adt users they just wont drop it." I guess she was serious. She said it with a straight face.

I've read similar stories from the Autodesk and reseller websites regarding the ongoing development of both ADT and Revit.

And you are right, they are integrating the Viz renderer into ADT.

There are currently several hundred thousand users of ADT, too many to drop it.

Hi

Looking at the AutoDesk discussion groups, I get the feeling that Viz may be on the way out - upgraded to Max 5, 6 ....? The ADT render capabilities are limited but probably address the requirements of 80% of the ADT users out there who just want to get a rendering out of their ADT model and do not have the time/skill resources to work up an image in Viz. Many users are daunted by the file linking etc., involved with AutoCAD/ADT to Viz and the ADT 4 definitely makes the process far more painless, but maybe at a price of getting a more "canned" result.
