Spooner04
Anyone know if you can render out a pass with material ID's from vray. I've tried rendering in the default frame buffer, vray frame buffer, all vray mats, and all standard mats. I can't get anything but 0,0,0 black pixels. any help would be appreciated. Sketchrender
can you not just go to the passes and add it and filter through it when it is fully rendered.
Spooner04
The pass renders out completely black in the frame buffer. Using the pixel info feature in the vray frame buffer it doesn't give me anything just the x,y coordinate of the pixel. I expect it to be like mental rays and give each mat a color. Maybe the pixel info only shows up in a post program like after effects or combustion? I'm using 2008 and vray 1.5 sp1, not sure if that makes a difference either. Spooner04
uggg....sorry. I R NOOB. I didn't realize you had to assign the material ID in the material editor. Thought it was derived automatically somehow. Thanks for the help.

John Dollus
There's a handy script included in the soulburn collection which will randomly assign material ID's for you: http://www.neilblevins.com/soulburnscripts/soulburnscripts.htm
