neko
i have a couple of b-17's one was free (i think) and the other came from the mesh factory.... http://www.meshfactory.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=21_22_24&products_id=528 what level of detail are you looking for ? the mesh factory model certainly was decent (though never used in action). i bought access to the entire collection which is a good deal. can i ask what the model is for ? museum ? just curious..... edit: mesh factory subscription is now $200 (good deal)

neko
Helloo Phillip, Are any of those WWII era? the b-29 was the bomber of choice in the pacific - never used in europe (to my knowledge) the halifax was a tremendous bomber, but british b-52 is cold war era, not WW2

(you don't need to pay for it) your wwII bomber recognition skills need some work - that is a B-25 mitchell bomber just teasing - it's a bit of a 'hobby' of mine because i design and build replica wwII fighter planes...... http://www.tally-ho.org

neko
thanks - it's my dream job. in architecture school, if someone would have asked me "what would you like to design", or maybe "what is one of the greatest example of pure design" i might have said a spitfire. we have about fifteen people around the world building them now (australia, canada, US, europe) and it seems to be.......taking off ? (sorry) i'm going to update the website with 3D images of the plane. i'm not sure if you saw them, but the model was created to test the size / shape of each component and the construction of the aircraft. we are now done the wings and are finishing up with the cockpit and engine. i'll post some of them here as well. Tommy L
No, its for a personal/portfolio project. Its going to be the background for a shot of 'Rosie the Riveter'. She was the face of a propaganda campaign in the US during WWII aimed at getting women to join the work force to help the war effort (building planes and stuff). It entailed some beautifully executed artwork and we're doing a kind of tribute. We've shot 'Rosie' in a studio and I'm doing the backdrop in 3d. I'll post the results. But as with all these kind of images (no client) the progress is often slow.
neko
tom by the way, you might like this website..... http://www.wddg.com/ for a graphic design firm called world domination design group....loving the name (and the work). the propaganda theme of the website design might be of interest with this image of yours. edit: let the whole flash intro run for a few minutes - it's quite good Edited June 13, 2008 by neko

Ray
There was a free B-17 given out on the disc that came with an issue of 3D World magazine. I don't remember which issue. Is it ok to share free models given out that way? I never read the eula's on those.
