Claudio Branch
I am working on a Photo-match and I need to cast some shadows onto a surface. I searched some threads and found that I can use the VRayMtlWrapper with Matte surface checked, Alpha contribution -1, and shadows checked. I am using a VRayMtl as my Base material. I am using a Direct Light and a V-Ray Dome light. The surface is picking up the shadows alright, but the plane is semi-transparent instead of completely invisible. What am I missing here? I just can't get the plane to completely disappear. Any suggestions appreciated...
litleboy
I had to take it ot PS. the MAX render pic will show the object, but the file you save will have the alpha channel.
Ky Lane
You need to adjust your exposures to match the background. Under the color correction rollout, choose exponential, and up the bight/dark multipliers... tick sub pixel mapping and untick affect background... keep upping them until your matte material is clear, then you'll probably need to drop the intensities of your lights. Claudio Branch
Insane! It doesn't sound like V-Ray is well suited for this if I either have to jump into Photoshop or limit my color mapping. Scanline does it easily and so does Mental Ray... WTF?
Ky Lane
Well, default settings for exposure are just low... setup your own defaults
