vizfx
Hi I want to change my old monitor with a 22” LCD. First of all I want to see what is available on the local market. Now I`m looking for some advice for judging image quality (at the store) like http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-7610_7-6384019-4.html?tag=tnav and some opinions about 4:3 and 16:9 ratios (personally I like 4:3). I was thinking about a 24” monitor but a dual configuration of 22” monitors seems more feasible (for the near future) since there is just a minor price difference (about 80-90$). About the dual configuration I don`t like the position of the pop-up messages and windows which is in the center (half a message on one monitor….). Is there a setting to change the position of those messages (because it`s annoying)? Best regards. Mihai
Exellite
I've had dual monitor setups for many years now and have NEVER had a popup in the middle of both like you explain eg: half on 1 monitor and half on the other. They always pop up on in the middle of your main monitor, the one you configure to be number 1. As for whether to go for a single 24" or a dual 22", theres no contest, it's dual everytime for me. I too am a fan of 4:3, and also don't have the desk space for 2 widescreens side by side. but if you are working in animation a lot, then there are benefits for going with widescreen. vizfx
I saw this problem at a video editing studio and all the messages from Adobe Premiere Pro were as described in the previous message. They are using an Ati video card. Is this coming from an incorrect setting for the dual display?
Crazy Homeless Guy
How do you have windows set up to span the monitors? I am guessing that maybe you have it set to use both desktops as your entire screen. Meaning that the bottom bar spans both monitors. I have mine set so that I have a main screen that the bottom windows bar spans, and then a second screen that the bottom bar does not appear on at all. When windows pops up a message, it centers it on the main window with the bar. If you have the bar across both screens, it may be trying to center it above the bar, which would probably case the pop up window to be split between monitors. Slinger
it sounds like they had the monitors set to span mode and not dual monitor mode. vizfx, you will have no issue going dual monitor. also, you really like 4:3 better than 16:9? that's a first. Exellite
Not really, a lot of ppl I know prefer 4:3 for modelling and cad work. unless you go for larger widescreens (24"+) you just dont get the height. And 2 x 24" widescreen monitors take up a hell of a lot of desk space!!
Ky Lane
I got 2x22" widescreens and love them.
