Ruprect
Hi there, If I had any hair left, I would have pulled it out over this project. It seems the more work I do on it the worse my results are becoming. I would really appreciate advice and crits on this one. My setup is using Vray lightcache, and a dome with vraylight mtl and an additional vray light.

Ian P
I wouldnt use light cache on an external, i think thats partly why your getting such wierd results you'll get better results on an exterior with brute force but you may have to brighten the image to compenstate. Tedrux
Hi, The geometry is ok, it just looks a little flat. I don't use Vray because I'm skint and can't afford it so i use mental ray. There must be some settings in Vray that let you boost samples to get more occlusion... I use area lights to get really nice shadows with soft edges. Some of the maps have visible tiling and the bump maps don't really work. You should invest in some professional materials or create some good ones yourself including masks and overlays to get shut of the tiling. Sorry for the hammering, I'm no expert but I beleive in honest critisism! One more thing; you missed some vital elements to make it look more convicing: Rain water pipes!... they make the diffrence on flat walls. Cheers, Ted (Andrew Holt)
Ruprect
Thanks for the advice Ted.. Your spot on about the drain pipes, and I see that some work could be done on the textures. And don't worry about the hammering, I put these images up for critisism so that I can take on board the advice and become a better artist. Richard McWilliams
Adding control joints in your stucco will help a lot for detail. Also the red leaves seem too big for the scale. Good luck!
Ruprect
I downloaded the Solid Rocks Vray assist demo, and did a quick render using pretty much the default options.. Here is the result. Oh yeah..and I took away their anti grav boots!!
Ruprect
Thanks for the advice Richard... Control joints in Stucco and leaf size added to the list.
