Ivan_m
Hi, I'm having difficult times with one file. I made a project and soon after I finsished it, I tried to open it to make some masks for further color corrections of the rendered picture. I was suprised to see: "application error, the file will close, do you want to save your file...". I tried to open older saves, but they are so old that the camera position is different. I tried to save the file but it didn't help neither. The funny thing is that the same file is on three different PCs and I did't have any problem with this until now. After I found that the file is corrupt I tried on the other two PCs but the problem there is the same.
Tommy L
You can try merging the geometry intop a new file. (File > merge...)

Ivan_m
autosaves... did't find the exact file I need... I tried by merging, but soon after I start to move into my project file I get the same message. I think that conclude the possibilities to restore my work... Tommy L
Not necessarily. The corrupt file will (probably) have one problematic peice of geometry. Try merging the geometry in chunks. For example, you can do all the lights and cameras first, then a quarter of the geometry etc. You will soon discover which it the problem geometry. When it crashes, do it again and avoid the element that made it crash. You can then go to an old file that still works and bring in the (pre)problem geometry from there. Ivan_m
10x, Tom. I followed your advice and it works. The problem was in only one single peace of geometry in the whole scene. I count this project finished at last. Edited June 24, 2008 by Ivan_m
