sabre4ga
Heya People, Im really at my wits end atm, i was working on a file, and my computer completely froze up, i restarted my system, and open opening 3dsmax i found that all of my 3dsmax scenes i have ever made will now not open, producing the "File Opening Failed" error. I have completely wiped my installation and its still not working. I have also tried merging with the scenes, however this does not work either. HELP! Antisthenes
are you sure you didn't just not pay your subscription fee? are any other files corrupted? sounds more like a HD failure
Arnold Sher
what utter rubbish!?!?! Subsbscribtion fee??? I think one could probably tell the difference. I am fully aware of the frustrations that rather too common when makes crashes for no apparent reason and then when you try to get back into the file it won't let you. There is couple of things that you can do... Forget the original file that is gone, although if you have couple of other PC's i would strongly advice trying and see if you can open it on those. It has worked for us in the past...If not, autobackup is the way to go and unless you've changed your default settings, i think max is set up to save every 5 or is it 10 minutes. Either way that should save your bacon. If for some reason that did not we have fail safe where everything gets backed up every night and i would say that would be once last resort to recover the file... Perhaps you should try that... I hope that helps and you come right with your file.. Good luck!

whitetr
ALL files? Do you have more than 1 version of Max? That's the error you get if you try to open (for example) a Max2008 file in Max9.
