I've been using autocad 2000 for ages and used to shortcuts for all the tools e.g. ctrl+f for fillet and ctrl+d for erase

just wondering for autocad 2007 how would change the shortcuts so that e.g. ctrl+f for fillet and ctrl+d for erase

Yes, the file still exists. Just do a search for acad.pgp or go through windows explorer:

C:\Documents and Settings\Mbowers\Application Data\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2009\R17.2\enu\Support\acad.pgp

Open it in WordPad, rename or modify as needed and save. Then restart AutoCAD.

Hope that helps.

there is still a .pgp file for shortcuts, but what you want is the CUI (custom user interface)

type in 'CUI' or go to customize' under the tools menu....then go to 'keyboard shortcuts'

it's a little more complicated than it used to be (no surprise with autodesk), but it is more efficient.

Keyboard shortcuts are different from command aliases. The one just happens (like ctrl-s to save) and the other requires an enter (like PL to polyline). Keyboard shortcuts are there in the UI customization. Command aliases are in the menus "somewhere". Part of the Express menu.. utilities? Pops up a dialog with add button etc. and ultimately rewrites the pgp.

There are also, I forget the term, command overrides? So far I have only one that I use, F9 turns on perpendicular snap for only when it is held down.

As noted, the interfaces can be a bother. Persevere.

Thanks for the help, finally got it sorted

to get to pgp: Tools -> Customize -> edit program parameters (acad.pgp)

prodham's "type in 'CUI' or go to customize' under the tools menu....then go to 'keyboard shortcuts'" is what I needed, and yes it is a bit more complicated than before i.e. autocad 2000:p but it comes with a neat video that shows you how to do it in the help section.

Just out of interest when you guys draw lines/fillet/chamfer do you use the Keyboard shortcuts(ctrl+d) or command aliases (like PL to polyline) personally I'm used to all the tool in ctrl+.. format so one hand stays on the keyboard and the other on the mouse.

Also do people mostly use autocad in 2d mode e.g. walls are made out of lines? and back with autocad2000 it cames with a nice library of blocks e.g. bathroom, toilet, sofas etc I've noticed there are alot less in the 2007 library is there a free site to download parts ?
