Tommy L
I have a problem with image quality, please see attached images. 'Image' shows the whole thing, to put it in context. 'ok' is a close-up of a rendernot using gamma correction. 'poor' shows the degredation of the image after changing my gamma settings. It is a strip render through backburner. Using Vray. saving as .jpg In the 'poor' image, it looks as though its saving at .jpg 1 or something, but I get the same probs rendering to targa or tiff. Has anyone encountered this before? Its not anything in the render settings because the image looks fine in testing. Could really use some help! Tom.
Crazy Homeless Guy
Does it break down like this if you do a local render with gamma correction, and save to tif?
Tommy L
no, seems to be a backburner issue. Was fine when I was using DR on my workstation.
Crazy Homeless Guy
i wonder if the image is being compressed twice when you strip render. once when it renders out the strip, and the second time when it reassembles the strip for the final image. have you tried using tif or tga for the strip render? Chad Warner
I've noticed before that saving a jpg out of Max has always had issues, even at maximum quality. This was on prior versions so it could have been fixed by now, but as a rule I wouldn't save anything as a jpg until I'm done with everything. If your looking for small file size, try a PNG. It uses lossless compression. Edit: Nevermind, I just re-read saying that you've tried as a TGA as well. I have not had that problem before saving as a tga or a tif. Tommy L
Right on the button Travis. Thanks, I'd have never thought of that. Luckily I told it not to delete the strips on completion..... Cheers!
