archkre
I inherited a very complex *.max scene to make an animation with hundred of proxies of trees on a very wavy terrain. Many of the trees seem to be floating over the land: What is the best method to place the the trees in their right position beyond moving them by eye? Thank you
Peter M. Gruhn
If they are actually way up in the air then I'll let another person answer ;-) If they are actually only the ground and only SEEM to be floating then you may have a shadow bias problem. I usually put min shadow bias to around 0.1 and that tightens up shadows and doesn't give trouble. Better people may have better approach.
Chad Warner
Download the glue plugin from itoosoft. You can pick the terrain object and then glue the trees to it.
Ray
Or get the 'Planter' script from Neil Blevins' site: http://www.neilblevins.com/blurscripts/blurscripts.htm I think it's only available as part of the pack.
