Eric Sosa
Hey everyone, We use vray DR (distributed rendering) to render our visualizations. The slave machines (quadros) can work as regular pc's; have CPU, graphic card, ram, etc, etc. The question is; can the slave machines being used withouth graphic card?. We are thinking about buying more pc's with the same specifications but without graphic card. As we plan to use them only as slaves and use only their CPU to render, what else can we save when buying the new machines? is it enougth with the motherboard (CPU) & ram? regards, Eric
Chad Warner
If all that you are going to be doing on the machine is rendering, you can certainly get away with using the onboard graphics card. It has no bearing on how fast the machine renders.
AJLynn
It does need to have some video card, so you can configure the computer and fix it if it breaks, but it doesn't need to be good and it won't be used by Vray.
