Claudio Branch
Looks like a strong start to me modeling-wise and a nice composition. Planning on using this for an animation? Looks like V-Ray...
jameson101
Modeling looks awsome, looks very good. The only fault i can see is the Front pavement shadow. But everything else looks really good. Cant wait to see it with materials
Chad Warner
Looking good so far!
skala67
thank you for the comments, Added textures. the mountain looking that way is by request of the client. (close, centered and big) landscape and entourage to follow. cheers,
womble
Yeesh, you should seriously get your client to rethink having the mountain like that in the background, it has seriously ruined any composition you had. The building is just totally lost there and there is no depth between foreground and background.
Claudio Branch
get your client to rethink having the mountain like that in the background... What if it's really there? It looks like to me that the scale/perspective of the mountain is grossly off for the camera angle you are using on your scene. Realistically, you might see the very tip of it or not see it all with the camera at eye-level. Furthermore, the resolution of the mountain appears to be higher quality than that of the sky. Some "rethinking" is definately in order...
sardesign
reduce the contrast for the mountain the foreground material... add a speckle or noise modifier on the material so you eliminate the pattern. the model looks good, but the scene does looks a bit flat EDIT: TJ reminds me of CHS
birdman67
Wow:eek:, that mountain really is a big problem...I loved the first shot but shreeked when I saw that mountain...looks like it's growing out of your building. I agree...reduce the contrast and try lowering it so you don't see as much of it. I would also try to find other renderings/pics of similar situations and see how others handled it. Good luck, tough situation you're in there...
skala67
yeah, it has been a good lesson in composition for the client and i think we are working together towards the solution. It always helps when you have a good client. Well here is a quick study of the new comp. If they sign off then we will start adding the landscape and entourage and tidying up the materials etc.. Thank you much for the comments and suggestions. C&C welcome... Sardesign: haha yes, camelback high school. that brings me back a few years... How are you doing? shoot me a message offline. skala67
Update. This was the compromise for the mountains. Started adding some landscape. Need to tweek some of the materials. Lots more to go. cheers,
Justin Hunt
If your locked in that backround then at least match the sun angles, the phto the sun is coming in from the left and the model from the right jhv
skala67
you are right on. shadows...check.
skala67
Here is the final test for approval from the owner. I still need to add people, some more landscape under the trees and in the pots, and add the signage to the project, but it is the final overall feel for the image. C&C cheers,
Ky Lane
Its lookin` like a camouflaged bunker... I understand the setting may be brown and dry, but Id try breaking that up. More green, less cheese (do they really plant cactii for decoration?). Personally, Id replace the dirt with some nice lawn.
skala67
You have definitely never lived in the AZ desert. unfortunately that is how the landscape designers designed it. Usually there is no grass in any of the projects out here, and the color palette of the stucco is always a brown or muted white on most developments. Yes it is hokey but unfortunately i am at the mercy of the developer and designers. cheers,

Chad Warner
One of the most distracting things about the whole image is the blue glass on the chrysler 300 out front.....you need to fix that in a big way. Everything else is coming along nicely.
Ky Lane
Maybe haze back the anthill behind it a little? Try and draw some contrast?
skala67
good call on both accounts. I know where i missed the glass transparency and will def change that. There will be people in the cars too. That background has been the headache of this whole project, because they are building into the side of that hill and they want to overexaggerate it in the image. I am going to try some PS tricks on it. thanks,
Tim Nelson
Oh come on, you can do better! Are those 3d plants? I would seriously consider going 2d in photoshop. Darrin Sabin has a pretty some pretty good work using desert landscaping. Embellish a little! You don't need to put people in the cars. Just tint the windows (like everyone in Phoenix does) and add some nice cloudy reflections to the windshields. I admire the technical detail you've put into the scene, especially using the 3d site with topology. But find a better sky, take a better picture of the background, find a more interesting time of day, work on the landscape... The road texture is great, but the stripes wouldn't have as much noise in them like they do in your image. You know they lay that stuff on like an inch thick there! Oh, and why not pretend it's the rainy season in spring and lush up those mountains a bit? Just before it all turns to tinder!
skala67
haha, yes darrin is very good with the landscape. I am going to embellish for the final image, but i do appreciate the motivation. Time to turn this mother out. lol cheers,
sardesign
Its lookin` like a camouflaged bunker... I understand the setting may be brown and dry, but Id try breaking that up. More green, less cheese (do they really plant cactii for decoration?). Personally, Id replace the dirt with some nice lawn. they do decorate with cacti i'm from the east coast but live here in the desert and I actually began to appreciate the landscaping out here more... go figure. TJ try increasing the sunlight intensity. the sky is blue but the scene looks cloudy. try adjusting the scale and orientation of the trees on either side. Can you add a metallic paint material for the cars? add some falloff or edge shadow to give the cars a little less flat look.
Claudio Branch
...but it is the final overall feel for the image. C&C What happened to the bounced light off of the windows and the underside of the main awning? It's really gotten much darker from your original exposure. Those windows need to reflect something instead of black...
