myshtern
Does anyone have any pictures of a split face CMU being used on a residential building facade? I'm thinking of using a split 8"x16" CMU with a single mortar groove so that it looks like 8"x8" stack bonded.
AJLynn
Did you even try typing split face CMU into Google Image Search?
myshtern
Did you even try typing split face CMU into Google Image Search? I'm looking for examples of CMU used on a residential building. Maybe I'm not as savvy as you, I think that's why people ask each other these things on forums.

Chad Warner
I think he's asking if anyone has a photographic example of a residential builiding that has splitface on it. I don't know that I've seen any though. Splitface is generally reserved for "dressing up" a lower budget commercial building (at least around here). Brian Smith
here's a decent image i made that you can use in the bump channel...make sure to always leave maps out of the diffuse color channel so that you can quickly change the color w/o having to change the image. vizwhiz
i contacted Dave Sharp at Superlite 3 years ago about making up some hi-res downloadable Texxture Images of Their Superlite bldg products (mainly bricks) because The place i was working at was doing a new project = Riverview in mesa az i just called him again To see if There is a cd of Textures That could be requested for 3d work maybe we should start a national campaign of contacting ALL The BLDG materials representatives and asking That They make Their material Textures available for 3d arch viz presentation work i use The line "This would be a way To do 'reverse marketing'. if The client sees it because The architect(s) specifies it Then This just helps To make more SALES". o well, it is hotter Than hell here in az, been 115 F now it is only 113 F ** (say Antisthenes where is PHX? is That Phoenix?) Matt McDonald
I can't really think of any photos of split face on a home but you might look at the web pages of some of the Oldcastle companies. I would think that if anybody had a picture it would be them. If you are looking for textures, one of the block manufacturers (the name escapes me) had a little application that you could download that would generate textures based on your masonry and mortar selections. Maybe that will ring a bell for someone who can come up with the name.
Chad Warner
www.brick.com has the "masonry designer" that has some splitface block in it. It's a very good tool.

Antisthenes
yes Randy. I have done a few buildings on the Mesa Riverview site also. isn't it a zero fund site of the old Motorola plant? after a similar suggestion from me to a roof Tile company they did put large scale almost textureable images on their site. So i am with you on that the more we push them to provide us with this type of visuals to make it easier to spec their product the more likely we are to use it and cut down on costs for everybody involved as well as get thru city review processes faster. love the heat man!
