Tim Nelson
I have a big problem. I've been working on with a psd file for a rendering & it was almost done. Then something happened to it and now i can't upen it, or even view it in any kind of file browser. It crashes the desktop and the refreshes after a few seconds. Its a lot like the problem with .max files and Win2k - where you had to download the patch to fix it. Does anybody know of this problem or suggestions to fix it? If I can't get it resolved, I've lost so much work its not funny. thanks!

Ernest Burden III
You don't have any recent versions saved? I usually re-save under a new name (rendA01, rendA02) fairly frequently. Then copy to another volume or drive or CD. I know that doesn't really help now. Depending on how much you lost, you may want to get an un-erase program to try to find an over-written version. It is a longshot but within possibility, and it can take a while to find, buy. This is the one I bought called active @ undelete. But if you try that, do it soon. Also--post a message on the photoshop user group on usenet. There are some VERY skilled PS people there, including at least one Adobe developer, Chric Cox. If anyone knows how to resque your file, you are likely to find them there. Good luck, been there, feeling your pain.

If you have your backup system in place and well thought of then all that is left to do is... work. When needed you just go back to the restore option and get your same file from the date that you choose. but, like you said, prolly wont help Timmy here - this is just FYI. Good luck again. Tim Nelson
Thanks for your help guys. I ended up having to start over but it wasn't too bad. Silly me - trying to fix the file, managed to copy it onto my desktop, but when i did that it kept crashing the desktop over and over again. I had to have my friend come over and delete it from Dos. Here's how it turned out. I hate putting people in interior renderings, but clients seem like they need people in it to make it look 'alive' I guess.
