King David
I have a rendering that was done in Viz 4 and finished in Photoshop. Photoshop was used to give the appearance of a water color painting. I tried to get similiar resutls. Whenever, I try to apply the water color filter to a photorealistic image I end up with water color effect that blunts my line details. Especially, the facial features of my people images. I am beggining to wonder if I am doing something wrong. I can't seem to be able to produce the same affect found on my sample rendering. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? Maybe only the color was applied with a water color filter.
bigcahunak
Hi David, Welcome to the forum. I understand your problem. I think what you need to do is copy the original image to a newe layer, apply the filter to the new layer and then play with this new layers' blending mode (try multiply, screen, overlay) and Opacity. As for the blunting effect - try to copy the original layer to another new layer and apply Multiply blending mode plus 20% - 40$ Opacity to it. Post a pic too, so we can see... Good luck. John Dollus
David: Are you sure the original image was created with the stock Photoshop filter? I know a few people who bring renderings into Photoshop and paint over them by hand with very nice results.
Ernest Burden III
It would help a great deal if you would post a piece of what you are shooting for, and maybe the rendering you hope to apply the effect to. The Photoshop watercolor filter is fairly poor, in my opinion. I have used alternate methods to produce a watercolor effect in PS.
Reitveld
I've got to say that the watercolor filter is nice but tricky. I have not gotten good results with it like I expect. With PS7 out the new pen tool will let you 'paint' better water color effects. Cheers!
