objects drift during orbiting in perspective-view

Hi guys,

here is my story and hopefully u can help solving my prob. I draw my floor plans in autocad and then import them into 3ds-max 9 to inflate them into 3d. that allways works fine. i extrude the polylines to the needed hight until i finish one floor, then move to the next one.

now, when i rotate in perspective view the walls adjacent to each other start to drift apart to leave ugly gaps between them. of course they can be seen also in the rendered frame at the end.

I could'n find any thread concerning that matter. i reinstalled 3ds max, have installed all hotfixes, patches and service packs and even tried different graphix-driver for my graphix-card.

maybe the pic shows the problem

thank's a lot already

Hi mattclinch,

system unit scale is inches,

display unit scale is generic,

position of drawing is way of the origin.... 68tsd - 45tsd

that's probably the mistake

I get the hang of where you're going. I'll try readjusting units and position of drawing and let you know if that does it.

Thanx so far

Mattclinch,

readjusting did the trick. I had to go back into autocad and reposition the coordinates. After importing again my floor plans now are right where they belong _ at origin 0:0. so far i could'n see any drifting of objects.

Thanx a lot matt. i probably would keep staring and cursing pcs, progs and the whole wide world :)....damn
