Brian Cassil
Ok, I just got one of the strangest requests from a client ever. He specifically want's to see a flock of birds flying in the sky of a rendering I've done for him. I have to admit I've thought about doing that in the past but I've never seen "birds in flight rpc collection vol. 1" and I've never wanted to take the time to paint them myself. So does anyone out there know where I can get some images like that preferably with alpha maps?
Fernando Lino
why not in post-production?...you don't need a 3d bird ...It is a little crazy!!!..asking to him if he wants bees, mosquitos and bugs  [ December 05, 2003, 09:55 AM: Message edited by: Fernando Lino ]
Brian Cassil
Post production is what I want them for. And yeah, I should ask him about bugs and maybe some rodents scurrying through the grass.
CHE
Go to altavista and do a search for birds (ducks, eagles, etc) under images per resolution. Photoshop them and presto! That's what I did for this illustration:
Fernando Lino
I am not sure...but I think that I have someones...when do you need them for?
CHE
Ohh yeah I forgot, make sure that they are free to use without copyright restrictions. Or either go out side and take some pictures yourself
Brian Cassil
I took Che's advice and found some suitable bird pictures. I had actually tried that earlier but couldn't find anything that was going to work but just now I found a site with a LOT of bird photography and out of the 100 plus close up images of pelican's and storks I did find one that worked pretty well. Here's the final image as the client requested. I'm not the biggest fan of the viewing angle but that was something else he was very specifica about. CHE
Hey Brian they look good. I would probably add another group of birds to the right of your image. Scale them down so that it simulates depth in the sky, as if they would be flying away from you. To see what I mean, just take a look at the example that I posted... My two cents.
