Tommy L
Been experimenting a little with vray and photoshop. Please excuse the lens flares..... I wanted it to look like a photo, taken out the window of a moving car at dusk. I have time to spend on this so comments much appreciated.
Fran
That's pretty cool looking.
Claudio Branch
I like the chiaroscuro style. It also looks like you added Diffuse glow w/ grain to give it a film-like quality. Business or pleasure?
Tommy L
Kind of both. We're looking to do other stuff than just architectural rendering so we need more diverse stuff in the book. We're going to green screen a motorcycle and put that in. Thats the next phase. Needs to be a cool shot first.
Claudio Branch
Ah...pleasurable business. A nice line of work to be in. I think you are off to a strong start. The piece has a nice mood, texture, composition and even implied movement. Please show more when you get the Organ Donor comped in!
Tommy L
Will do. We have the photo shoot tomorrow. So far this image has only taken around 3 hours. Really lo-oking forward to what the re-toucher does with the photography and image.

Ernest Burden III
I wanted it to look like a photo, taken out the window of a moving car at dusk. You must be British.
Tommy L
I not sure I know what gave me away Ernest. I am indeed British, English to be even more precise...... I think I wanted the image to look like a photo that would invoke a memory. Those kinds of photos are invariable badly taken.
stylEmon
....in the meantime heres another motorbike shot (ducati) is that just a photoshop cutout of a bike? I can see anti-aliased edges.
Tommy L
Nick, Yes, the bike is a placeholder (to check the lighting) whilst the rendering. The re-toucher will mask the bike properly etc.
stylEmon
oh, gotcha. wasnt sure if it was intentional.
Tommy L
Im loving working with a photographer and a re-toucher. Its not strictly architectural stuff, but loads of fun.
Ernest Burden III
I not sure I know what gave me away Ernest. I am indeed British, English to be even more precise...... First, your name. Then, I'm sure you've mentioned being ... English (we don't make a distinction in the US) at some point. I think I wanted the image to look like a photo that would invoke a memory. In the US we drive on the right side of the road, In the UK you drive on the wrong side. Look at the picture. I've taken a few photos like that before, so I know what you mean. On a long drive across a big portion of the US you get bored, but don't want to stop to take photos. I sometimes take them when I'm driving, which is a really bad idea. EddieLeon
....In the UK you drive on the wrong side. Isn't that relative? I bet they can say we are on the wrong side also...
EddieLeon
I like the style of the rendering. It does look like a tourist picture. I can imagine being on a road trip and not being able to stop, but wanting to capture that fleeting golden hour. The selection of site is nice too. It reminds me of Cannes. Date palms and seaside hills. You mentioned adding more elements to this rendering. How about a hint of the rear view mirror in the foreground and maybe some blurred benches and a person on the sidewalk, or a hint of a sailboat in the bay? Not too much stuff. Just some subtle elements that bring it to life. I would love to see the final...
Kopeykin
Check color temperature of the sky and lamps. Lamps couldn't be so white. IMHO.
