SSPEIPER
I have been doing a fair bit of research, and was wondering what the other Rhino users out there would recommend... Is Vray better due to the fact that there are so many users of it now? Or are the capabilities of say - Maxwell and Brazil a better option... All are for Arch Viz btw...!!! SSPEIPER
Just elaborating on the above post, Can users of Vray for Rhino use the same textures (access library) that users of Vray for 3Ds MAX use? So I could possibly have infinite textures to download? Thanks in advance!!!
SreckoM
For me Vray for sure, Maxwell is great but long rendering times are no way to go for me. I haven't tested Brazil but as I heard it is OK engine too. I recommend Vray.
quizzy
I'm a brazil user (for 3dsmax) and was amazed by the shader examples that are in the gallery, really cool stuff. So product visualisation should be no problem at all with brazil. As for arch-viz, I use brazil for almost every archviz image/animation I do, so that should not be a problem in Rhino as well... so I definately recommend Brazil. Its still in beta but they are almost done, and I think its free while in beta...
Antisthenes
Brazil is very fast as is Vray, but is still in WIP(free for commercial use to Rhino owners), test it yourself and or wait? Fryrender is ok I Like Flamingo 2 also for speed and fast trees, and i am eager about Flamingo nXt's new beta. never forget Penguin either that too does allot of even faster cool NPR renderings. Mario Pende
Hows the Vray plugin? Buggy or no problems? I heard it had some problems with exterior lightning couse the reflections of the sun produced artifact in reflections. Is this fixed? Does it work with Rhino 4 SR3? p.s. Srećko, jel dobar taj plugin il ne ;-) Igram se s Maxwellom al nema proceduralnih textura pa onda sve mora da mapiras sa slikama a to traje i traje... SreckoM
Sorry. Well what I said to del82 is that there is no any artifacts any more, that bug is fixed. And that it works great with latest Rhinoceros release (4b I think). Of course latest service release of VfR. Thats all.

CHE
Luxology just released a free translator for Rhino: http://www.luxology.com/whatismodo/plugins/plugin_rhino_translator.aspx I know of one ArchViz member at the Luxology forums that is modeling in Rhino and rendering using Modo without any problems. Antisthenes
Brazil WIP builds come out about every week now, i am so busy in Vray that i haven't had the time to get my hands dirty, but it looks like a need for some examples for the Brazil Gallery in the architectural area is a need and it could make a good case for it's wider use. SSPEIPER
As a Rhino User - I guess I have been swayed by Vray as a Rendering package. Is Flamingo 2 any good? I need something that will give me a large and wide variation in trees. What is the best program/sofware to either download or buy where trees and other plants are concerned? I am not a fan of the 2D flat images in scenes however...
quizzy
christian, concerning the trees do a search through the forums, that has been well documented in there...

Flamingo 2 is good in that it has GI light domes and supports newer (not the newest RPC) but Flamingo nXt will be sweet! oh yes Flamingo has good trees i think and you can customize them and they are procedural(geometry builds at render time) I am told when asking that they are working on getting this tree system to work with others that use the RDK? also brazil released WIP 26 yesterday http://brazil.mcneel.com [/font]and are getting closer to a release (with 3 WIPs in 1 week it seems) De tijden zijn goed. ja quizzy?
