jonnypoland
Hi all i have just had a look at the Archexteriors cinema 4d package and was very impressed. I am an architecture student and am thinking about moving to mac. i use archicad for drawing/modeling and put the models into max/vray for rendering. this is not great for use on a mac because i dont really see the point in running windows on a mac. Is cinema 4D the solution? does anyone know if archicad models can be imported in it? also how long will it take me to learn rendering techniques on it? finally am i correct in assuming that it can render with vray? any insight would be greatly appreciated! BillyElNino
As far as I am aware ArchiCAD is fine for importing into C4D. We do all our base modeling in SketchUp and then use C4D to model any more complicated elements followed by Vray for rendering which we feel works well as a work flow. This is all Mac based too. STRAT
i dont really see the point in running windows on a mac. i'm a windows user on a mac. advantages * i get more software availability than if i just ran on a mac. * i'm fluent in windows and windows software, why change? * i get the rock solid hardware option the mac offers me whilst using my fav windows software. * because of this, i get much better rendering facilities and less crashing than a pc. disadvantages ( cant think of any right now) Is cinema 4D the solution? does anyone know if archicad models can be imported in it? also how long will it take me to learn rendering techniques on it? finally am i correct in assuming that it can render with vray? any insight would be greatly appreciated! I'd definitely go for C4D and Vray. We use it as our main render engine of choice and are very happy.
jonnypoland
thanks for the replys. the one other thing i was wondering is how difficult C4D is to use. Realisticly how long will it take me to learn how to create decent rendered images and are there many tutorials available?
