Matt McDonald
Hi all So I run our backburner manager and monitor on an xp32 box. Using Backburner Monitor, if I look at the server properties of an xp32 render node (which has 4Gb of RAM) the monitor reports 2Gb RAM. If I look at an xp64 system with 4Gb of RAM the monitor reports 4Gb of RAM. If I look at an xp64 system with 8Gb of RAM the monitor reports 4Gb of RAM. I'm fairly confident that the render nodes will use all of the memory installed on the system but I am curious if enabling the /3GB and /PAE switches on my 32bit monitor will affect the memory reporting? I'd just do it but I'm 50% lazy and 50% worried that enabling /PAE will give me some troubles (I've read that it can). Anyone out there have any experience in the matter? Matt McDonald
OK, I got over the laziness and my fears. I enabled /PAE & /3Gb and it had no effect on the memory reporting. Oh well, I'm not too worried about it. It would have been a lot cooler if it did.
