looking for free characters for testing

i am looking into character animation (rigging, skinning etc) and was wondering if one of you kind folk would be able to provide me with a test character. It doesn't need to be detailed. in fact a perfect example for what i am after can be found on this page

however i need it for 3ds max and not blender. if anyone has the blender character shown on that page and would like to convert it to max format for me then i would be very greatful. any similiar simple character would be great.
