gnomadix
Hi everyone, really glad to be here! I'm just getting started on arch vis. I have a client who doesn't require much detail in the renders but I would like to take the work to a higher level. Currently I am using AutoCAD/Rhino to model and Maya Software to render although I thinking of shifting to MAX/Vray. I know I could some use basic crit so any help would be gratefully recieved Many thanks Simon
shaneis
...Currently I am using AutoCAD/Rhino to model and Maya Software to render although I thinking of shifting to MAX/Vray... Welcome! Before you jump to Max and VRay, try mentalRay in Maya (Maya's Software renderer is poo). There's also VRay for Rhino, Maxwell and Fryrender. Many, many options, plenty of help here. Have a look at what this talented lady can do with Rhino and Fryrender http://www.cgarchitect.com/vb/31435-blue-sectional.html Good luck and you've come to the right place
jameson101
Welcome gnomadix Well your render is very basic. the next step is adding enviroment(clouds/sky, trees, other buildings, cars, people) Then there are extra things i suggest you model: pavement, street lights, if your windows dont reflect the enviroment then you must model objects inside. Still have alot of work to do but its a start. About the 3D software, I suggest to go with what goes well with your style in working, everyone has different ways of working. Most high end 3D software you can create photorealsitic images, you must just learn as much as you can of it and practice makes perfect. Im using 3D max 2008 with vray and works perfect for me, I still have a lot to learn but im on my way. Good luck
Stan Zaslavsky
welcome aboard - its a great place to get some feedback on WIPs and lots of other questions answered .. great looking sculpture you have there in front of the building - it looks very cool. i'm trying to understand which building you are trying to draw emphasis on - is it the beige or the chocolate one? have you tried other views - to be a bit more dramatic - eye level looking up at the buildings or a 3/4 view from an angle? front on seems a bit too blocky hope these bits help cheers,
gnomadix
wow! fantastic response already from all of you shaneis: thats a great link and mindblowing image to set the bar jameson101: thats good fundamentals advice and I'll work on that for job purposes in the UK its looks like MAX/Vray is the mainstream so probably have to change for that reason StanZ: my focus is the older building (chocolate) but the angles are chosen by the client thank you for making me welcome
stylEmon
max vray is the mainline everywhere. once you get into the media/film industry, maya becomes the norm... us maya folks get lonley here with the arch viz crowd!
Tommy Burns
max vray is the mainline everywhere. It is alright but there is a lot of people making the switch to mental ray lately and all liking it. Also Vray will cost you money where as MR comes with Max free. I use MR all the time and can also use Vray but much prefer MR rendering times are much better and they have made it much easier to use. Hope this helps
