Hi Sam,

What host application are you using for fryrender? If you have a bitmap in your Refl0 slot (for basic surface color of your material), it shows in the Max viewport. In Rhino, it will show if you are using the RDK material browser to set up your materials.

For the blurry image problem, for very small objects you need an fStop of 16 or higher. This will make the image darker, so increase ISO and decrease Shutterspeed. The lower the value of your fStop, the smaller will be your depth of field. The target of your camera should be in the vicinity of the objects you want as focal points in your scene. For an interior shot, it is usually in about the middle of the room and you want to use an fStop of 5.6 or higher.

I've asked for this thread to be moved to our new Fryrender forum. :)

Thank you Fran, the problem solved. I start rendering with vray I think its still the best but I then start to use maxwell and like it so much its UI, and their support is the best I think no other company ever send you special materials when its your birthday, this is a small thing but it meant so much to me. Rendering times with maxwell is like hell, you are waiting, waiting... For this reason I try fry render, but I cant find neither the warm look of maxwell nor the speed of vray. I think Ill return to my old friend V-ray...

Thank you for your help Fran...

You seem to have resolved your issue very quickly without any help from me.

I use 3d max 2008 and fry RC, and i can't see my map in viewport.

In the Max material editor, click the little button that enables bitmaps in the viewport. The bitmap in your Refl0 slot of the fry material will show in the viewport.

HI Fran,

first i would like to thank you for your valuable and rich posts, i saw some of your work on fryrender and it's simply perfect!!WOW....

it's been always my dream to make realistic interiors "like every CG artist"

i've been working on max and vray for some years now,i'm doing well..not that perfect...but i keep learning and trying "self education and improvment".

when i discovered FryRender i was amazed by the results...it's a two thumbs up!

but i have few issues with Fry:

1- i can't convert a vray scene into a fry scene...i know it's not possible but im better in vray than other plugins...

2- when i create materials using FryRender..im still a biginner of course and then when i hit render...it takes forever like 8-10 hours and the results are very noisy...and not what im expecting...

ususally i put my f.stop on 2.8, shutter speed on 145 to 165 max...with the use of fry sun and some interior spots done using fry emitters.

i would like to have your advice...your experience in this issues..in whatever way u like...even if we can arrange an online course or something similar...

finally thanks alot in advance.

best regards,
