Display Drivers

Hi. I've had some problems in the past with my Display Drivers. Some drivers displayed some kind of triangulation through my objects (like little black triangles). Anyway, that's all fixed, but I don't really know what the difference is between drivers.

Also, I found out that some Drivers flip faces, which really is a pain in the ass.

There is Software, OpenGL and Direct3D. Does anyone know what exactly is the difference and what's the best to use?

;) Unfortunately, if your using consumer cards (g-force series for example), you'll get better results with DIRECT 3D. For example, I have a 8800gtx and once changed my driver from direct3d to opengl. The viewports got smoother but, since I'm using MAX 2008 and it's the wonderful viewport shadows, the shadows does not work in opengl for this card. Hope that helps. Good luck.

I'm using Max 2009 and a GeForce Go 7600. I'll try Direct 3D. Thanks.

Edit:

I tried both Direct3D and OpenGL. I noticed that both were very slow. Software is way smoother.
