malevy
I have been trying to create onyx trees in 3ds for the last week and i am not getting very far. I have been following Brian's video tutorial and i understand most of it except the part where he is adding maps to the material editor for he leaves. Can someone explain this in a few simple steps so i can get past this point already. I use the eye dropper and select the plant to get the colors into the material editor and after that point i am lost.. Please help!!!!
Tommy Burns
When you do this what you are getting is a sub-object material which has a lot of different materials in here. What you have to is find out which one of these is the leaf material it is usually named appropriately and just add your maps to this material. there is also something you have to adjust in the treestorm parameters to allow it view maps. It shows you this in the video. Hope this helps
malevy
Thank you for your help.. I finally did figure it out last night. So what happens when you get a tree with needles instead of leaves how do you apply an image to the needles or do you just use the vertex colors instead of images When you do this what you are getting is a sub-object material which has a lot of different materials in here.
