pradipta
I am working on an exterior animation, where i am currently building the night setup. I find Photometric light is giving better lighting effects but is Photometric light (with IES) takes longer to render than Omni while having at least 3000 of them in a scene? I will appreciate any help, thank you
kaz031
I'm not too sure of all the technical tricks but maybe just use the photometric lights in particular areas where you really need them and then omni for the rest.
pradipta
Thanks Karyn, I also thought the same thing. I will use photometric with IES for some closeups and omni for the rest, this will save a lot of time.
Ricardo Eloy
Why would you use omnis instead of spherical VRayLights?
pradipta
While experimenting I saw Omni are rendering faster than vray spherical light, so, I was asking if Omni's are really faster for larger scene? ad photometric with IES took longer also in most cases. Ricardo, please share your ideas on this thank you
kippu
i would have thought vray spherical lights would render faster , but then maybe you are not using shadows with the omnis in which case omnis would be faster
Nic H
Iv always found omnis quicker and more controllable than vray sphericals, espcially useful with falloff/attenuation controls - more flexible.
