nanderson2008
The bottom and sides of the pool that are under the water are textured with a blue tiles texture. Problem is they are not visible through the water in render. The water is a plane, settings for the material are shown. Any advice how to fix this? Cheers. RobNJ73
Make sure "Affect Shadows" and "Affect Alpha" are checked in the refraction parameters.
kiittea
I wonder why you're using diffuse map .....i am attaching u r image with few suggestions ... hope this helps you
nanderson2008
I've removed the diff and reflect maps, and changed it to a typical water material but the water still dosn't seem transparent. I've rotated a copy of the water plane to test that you can see through it, the material seems ok. I am trying to get the water looking similar to the attached image (from another post) but cant figure out what is wrong...
RobNJ73
As Kittea stated, use the fog color swatch and the fog multiplier to control the color of the water.
Trevor Tizard
Also you need to select "Affect shadows"
Ky Lane
And use a solid, not a plane.
karolisbilz@yahoo.com
i know this wasn't the topic here, u asked about the water and stuff......but u should REALY work on ur house it is way out of proportion and messes up the whole scene....for instance my hands would be choped off at work if i disegned a house with such proportions ... shaneis
i know this wasn't the topic here... You're right, it wasn't, but don't let that stop you from chiming-in with something useless. Nick, what are your Raytrace settings? Make sure the reflect/ refract rays are set high enough (use 6 each just to be sure). Maybe check the plane's normals are pointing the right way. Considering the rotated plane is also blocking your environment and returning black, I tend to think that it may be an env issue. Just double check that your env image and env settings are as they should be. S.
Nic H
use a solid volume, it will look better.

nanderson2008
At the side of the pool ive put a copy of the pool water object and it seems ok, but in the pool it is still dark and not see through. Ive only covered half of the pool with the water object to test. Any more ideas what's wrong and how to get it right? Cheers.
Ky Lane
Make sure the box in the pool doesn't intersect the sides of the pool, or no internal reflections/refractions will happen. Zoom right in, and make sure its very close, but not overlapping.
