Robin3D
Hi. Yeah it's me again. I made this standing lamp and placed a Photometric Spotlight with RayTraced shadows inside it, standing near a wall. It's for a bit more atmosphere. Though, I only see the light emitting on the wall when Recieve Shadows is turned off (in the wall's object properties). I find this really weird, because it shouldn't matter, since it's not shadows, but illumination (correct me if i'm wrong). See attachment for settings. I really need some help on this, because the deadline is getting closer and I need all the time I can get..
Tim_Tam
"...placed a Photometric Spotlight with RayTraced shadows inside it..." Are you sure your light isn't blocked by your geometry ? You can check this easily by turning of shadow casting from the light and turning on receive shadows back on wall object. Do you see the light ? If so then your lamp geometry is blocking your light. Robin3D
I'm 100% sure. The only thing that makes the light disappear is when I make the walls recieve shadows. The geometry is fine. Also, the light does not exclude objects.
Tim_Tam
Could you post a render and a screencap of your scene ? It would help to determine the problem. Your light parameters are just fine. The problem lies elsewhere.
Robin3D
Here are some renderings. In the first pic, the walls dont recieve shadows. In the second, they do, but there is no light from the lamps.
Peter M. Gruhn
I find your post a little confusing. Most of those shadows are from the sun or other lights. You want them on the wall. You told the wall "have no shadows. at all. from anything." So there are no shadows on it. You asked for this. But you need some kind of shadow exclusion. I wonder if the solution is to: - turn receive shadows back on for the wall - put the lamp geometry in the light's shadow exclude list. (Though this seems to not work if the lamp geometry material is A&D. Standard material works fine. Hm.)
Robin3D
The lamp geometry is A&D. But it's ok, I kinda found a solution. I just made 2 renderings and edited them in photoshop.
