schmoron13
Ok, so I'm working on my FIRST interior shot . I've only done esoteric engineering aids thus far and decided to learn how to do "other" visualizations. IN ANY CASE.... I'm using 5.1 and vray free to render, but with radiosity enabled, I get a really funky result with vray. When I don't have a glass wall (either a solid wall or blocks), the rendering, though slow, works fine (see example . But with glass, the pict goes crazy (see example 2 I'm at a loss :???: ..HELP ME!!! HELP ME PLEASE
schmoron13
also, is there any reason why I can't get a mirror to work (that gian blob over the counter).
Ricardo Eloy
Hey, dude! How about some screenshots from your settings, huh? I guess we can find what´s wrong then. [] Rick
proces2
this was also posted on the vray forum. i think they probably answered it right over there - don't use raytrace map when using vray. use vraymap in reflection channel.
schmoron13
ok, they said the same thing but I'm a little confused. How exactly do you create a glass material without using raytrace? when you say to not use the raytrace map, are you referring to the entire material, or just in the reflect/refract maps? kid
when you say to not use the raytrace map, are you referring to the entire material, or just in the reflect/refract maps? Both. If you want a reflective or refractive material using VRay Free you have to use the VRay Map reflection/refraction in the appropriate slots of a Standard Material. schmoron13
ok, so here's what I did: trans shader material basic Parameters: diffuse level 100 self coloration: 0 spec highlight: 0 Glossiness: 40 Backside specular: on opacity: 27 here's the accompanying pic: and here's what came out: Another weird thing I'm noticing is the strange coloration of the picture. It's looking more and more like an NPR (not that I mind), but I was wondering why this is happening. The radiosity solution is set to 85%, with everything else default. My Environment settings are Automatic Exposure control active and processing background and env. maps (though if I try to hit render preview max ALWAYS (100%) crashes), with brightness and contrast set to 50 each, exposure set to 0, and physical scale set at 1500...and desaturate low levels is on. As for VRAY: Adaptive subdivision: -1, 2 GI: on refractive/reflective GI caustics: on first diffuse bounce: 1.5 second ~: 0.5 irradiance map: hsph subdiv: 50 interp samp: 30 direct computation: subdiv 1 depth 3 irradiance map preset: very low GI Env. override: on @ 0.25 GI reflect/refract: on @ 1 This last one took a total of 4:22min to compute sorry for taking so long to respond -doron
Mark Nicholas Lazaro
try a higher imap preset
kid
The radiosity solution is set to 85%, with everything else default. What are you doing exactly? Are you running Max's radiosity in conjuction with VRay? Also, What's the reason for using the Translucent Shader? I've never used Max 5.1 but I'm pretty sure using that shader will complicate the situation much like the Raytrace Material.
schmoron13
Mark, higher imap setting? I'm not sure I understand kid, don't you have to run them both for a radiosity solution? as for the trans shader, the only reason I'm using it is because it was the only standard material type I know that has translucency. proces2
i think you need to do some reading up before just jumping into using a new renderer. go to vray.info and check out the Tutorials section. the 'study hall' tutorials are really helpful. Da_RoCk
Hi, Im really not the expert here. i also encounterd the same problem when i activated the radiosity solution. I think you choose wether to use Radiosity or GI solution. Hope this helps...
Ricardo Eloy
Let's clarify things a bit. You CANT run Max's radiosity solution AND Vray's GI AT THE SAME TIME. It simply doesn't make any sense! Choose VRay as your current renderer, turn it's GI on and be happy! And check out the various VRay tuts you can find on the web. You'll see what we're saying here.
