thinice
Please check out this experiment of creating a library of animated character with Lightwave. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6MAmQZhxBQ You can download the source files from http://www.realismstudio.com/misc/walk.zip Basically this technique involves creating internal morph targets (endomorph) and adjust them to create the walk cycle. The main advantage of this method is: 1. There is no bones of multiple morph targets to confuse your scene 2. You can easily clone the items without crashing your system 3. Each objects, even after cloned can still be adjusted individually (speed) Please let me know what you think of this method or if there is a much easier way to go about it. Limbus
Why not animate the character with bones and then save a MDD File that you can apply to other characters. This way you could also use Motion Capture data for the animation. The problem with morpmaps is that the resulting motion is always linear between morp A and morp B while the human body mostly has circular motion (rotation). This makes it look somewhat unrealistic.
