Miggity
Can somebody help me with figuring out how to render my displacement in a seperate pass. When I try to render I keep getting "Unhandled exception: Sampling Displacement maps." When I turn off displacement in Vray it works fine but I don't know how to render the displacement in a separate pass.
Squareframe
"Unhandled exception: Sampling Displacement maps." Im not sure if these is a memory issue but if it is the 3gb switch fixed all my problems.... normally if you have a large fiels uising Displadement it take up quite a bit of memory and it used to crash on me....If you are using 2d mapping try reducing the resolution. BrianKitts
what kind of object are you using displacement on, and are you doing 2D or 3D displacement? 2D works quite well and takes less memory, always a better starting point. I'm yet to find a need for 3D displacement in a scene.
Miggity
The surfaces are flat planes of grass, mulch and concrete, regular site plan stuff. i am using 2d displacement and the areas really aren't that large. Could it have anything to do with the geometry? I am using a simple grass with the VRay displacement modifier. I have a general question though, do you need to put the VRay displacement modifier on every piece of geometry that you want displaced? If so what is the point of the displacement map in the material? Just some stuff I have been thinking about. So saying I can't get the displacement to render how do you set up a separate pass for the displacement?
Miggity
That 3GB switch fixed all my problems. Thanks!
choco
Many thanks to you, thanks for the tip i forgot . ! (this problem happenned when i send a job with displacement using distributed rendering from a sevn 64 bits (4Giga ram ) to a xp 32 (3Giga Ram)
