nelpiper
Hi guys. My boss asked to clean a huge model made in microstation. Basically the model is complete but it'll be remade in 3ds max. My boss wants only the walls to be exported, no furniture, nothing else. Since I don't know nothing about Microstation at all, can any of you guys tell me how to export just the very basic walls? Does microstation work with layers like autocad? Thanks.
Antisthenes
I've been converting microstation models recently with intelliCAD (it has open DGN and reads the files 2nd best to Rhinoceros witch also opens microstation files where i eventually remodel.) can't help you with max the cost the function value is not there. Tommy Burns
If your dgn is create with proper layers find out the wall layer and just save the dgn to dwg and import it into max. Choose "layer blocks as node hierarchy" when importing. There is an option there for you to pick what layers to bring in. Just pick the wall layer and thats all you will bring in. It is really easy and works very well. Hope this helps
