From MAX to Powerpoint to DVD.

Greetings,

 

Need a little advice. I've just finished creating a promotional CD for myself covering all aspects of my work ( animations, stills etc ), it is in Powerpoint.

 

I'm wanting to put this on DVD that will autorun. What package do i use to create the file for this? and what file type is recommended e.g. .MOV or AVI .

 

Somewhat confused.

On first read, I though this would be a really easy answer... just use the "Package for CD" option from Powerpoint... it'll automagically start the presentation full screen when you pop the CD in.

 

On second read, it looks like you want this to play on a DVD set-top box. A little more difficult, but not too bad. You'll have to deconstruct your PPT file into an individual image per slide. I have experience using Premiere to assemble images and video clips onto a timeline, so that's how I'd handle that part if I was doing it. Then I'd burn the DVD with Encore. Another option might be one of the DVD burning apps like Roxio or Nero... sometimes they have "video slideshow" templates that you can drop your images into and burn straight from there. I don't know how the quality stacks up between the different apps... I haven't tested.

I'm old school - if you don't mind getting your hands dirty, this works:

 

* make 3 files on the 'root' of the cd

autorun.inf

default.html

go.bat

 

* here is the autorun.inf

[autorun]

open=go.bat

icon=ia.ico

 

* here is the go.bat

start default.html

 

* the default.html is whatever u want it to be.

I generally put some code to have a cover .JPG and some text that describes the cd.
