my first sketchup drawing

i am only 14 and my first house in sketchup I need help getting started with lighting. I do not know how to do it in sketchup. CAn someone help me get started. This is my first image. Its not that great but I just started learning a few days ago.

Show us what you made of it :-)

Adding shadows and materials makes an image already a lot more apealing...

 

But like I told you before, if you want more realistic lighting, you'll have to find an external plugin. Sketchup on itself only does very basic light rendering, but it doesn't mean you can't do nice things with it...

omg....14? when i was 14 all i cared is to get drunk and get laid....i wish i was more interested at smth back then....it seems that had no brain and no interest besides music and friends.....u are doing an awesome step in ur life by exploring siriuos stuff like softwre and gaining knowligde from whitch people get money.....respect keep up the good work man.....u can proudly call urself that

Good start, you should get yourself onto the Google 3D Warehouse website that can be accessed directly through SketchUp in to top File menu, 3D Warehouse, Get Models or through an internet browser. This has literally thousands of models to search through that you can put in your models or look at how they have been modeled for experience. The key thing to think about is scale and the proportion between models. Make sure what your downloading is in inches (I presume if you're American) or it will need to be adjusted using the scale tool.

 

There is A LOT of rubbish in the 3D Warehouse (like the internet generally) but there also some good models of pretty much anything you like from aeroplanes, cars, plants and lots of great furniture...
