Tom Hamelrijckx
Hey Josh, Lighting in Sketchup is quite simple, just put on 'Display Shadows' on the Shadow Settings palette, and then you can adjust shadow position (with time and date) and intensity (light and dark sliders) If you want more realistic lighting, you'l have to work with a plugin (like Vray)
monkeypoo
ok i got it and now i need to now what to do next
Tom Hamelrijckx
Show us what you made of it :-) Adding shadows and materials makes an image already a lot more apealing... But like I told you before, if you want more realistic lighting, you'll have to find an external plugin. Sketchup on itself only does very basic light rendering, but it doesn't mean you can't do nice things with it... BillyElNino
Good start, you should get yourself onto the Google 3D Warehouse website that can be accessed directly through SketchUp in to top File menu, 3D Warehouse, Get Models or through an internet browser. This has literally thousands of models to search through that you can put in your models or look at how they have been modeled for experience. The key thing to think about is scale and the proportion between models. Make sure what your downloading is in inches (I presume if you're American) or it will need to be adjusted using the scale tool. There is A LOT of rubbish in the 3D Warehouse (like the internet generally) but there also some good models of pretty much anything you like from aeroplanes, cars, plants and lots of great furniture... BrianG
Congratulations on your rendering and fearless choice in screen names! Don't be afraid to hit every button and try every dialog in that (and every) program as long as you've saved a copy. Keep going!
