hello--I'm new to this form

a landscape architect from st george island fla trying to grow skills in SU.

working my thru many helpful videos and forums--making good progress--thanks one and all for fabulous learning tools now on the net.

 

a prob I cant seem to work out is importing 3D acad contour or survey contour dwg--dxf files into SU --"clean and free of extraneous lines--text--tiltle bars etc

 

Im using acad 2006 DT and have learned from formus to export file from DT as saved AC 2004 format and then I can get it into SU. but I cant get get rid of everthing but the topo lines--I have via trail and errror with no success

---shut off--frozen and locked all layers but the contour layer--still comes in with all layers and looks like hell

---save as new file--manulally dellete all but contour save and import to SU but still all original layers !!!

Try saving a copy of the cad file, open it and delete everything you don't want, purge all the rubbish (ie: the unused layers) by typing purge at the command line, then save your file as cad 2004.

 

Or try selecting the lines you want and copy them into a new blank drawing and go from there.
