creasia
Import it with the "as image" option selected/explode it and make it a component.

Burk
Context menu and detach it ( I don't know the english word used in Sketchup ) Otherwise change the glue in the component edior.
stevel
When you import the image, click once to anchor it in place. Then you can rezise it by dragging the cursor up and down (the size will show up in the VCB), or enter a size you want in the VCB and hit "Enter". Then click again to select it, then right-click and select "explode". It will be placed in the "In Model" category (make sure you are in the correct category you're after--either components or materials). If you want to save the image in your library, click on the little arrow icon (I think it's an arrow) on the right, and choose "save as library", then make a new folder and it will be saved.
